this is my first time purchasing things online. So I was told to use my credit card for online purchase?

Bills will always be sent home, unless you signed up for e-statements. If you do sign up, you’ll get e-mails instead of postal mail.
First, log onto your credit card company’s website. You will have to enter your checking account info in one of the sections. This will let you use your checking account (that your debit card is connected to) to pay for your credit card bill.
Second, purchase the item online with your credit card. After a few days, the purchase will appear on your online credit card statement.
Third, log back onto the credit card’s website after waiting a couple of days. Check to make sure you were charged the proper amount. You can then either pay for it now, or wait until later (e.g., if you’re going to be making more purchases).
Also note that some credit card companies have something called virtual credit card numbers. They let you generate a credit card number that is attached to your real credit card number. You then use the virtual credit card number on the online website so that your real credit card is not at risk. Once the deal is done, you can go back and cancel the virtual credit card number. Check into this feature before you start using your credit card online. It’s a nice security feature.
