What happens if a credit card does not let a transaction go through for online gambling?

I’ve used a credit card for online gambling before with no problems. I never knew that that wasn’t allowed. Anyways, recently some of those transactions never went through with the credit card. They remained pending then dissappeared. When I made the deposit on the gambling site they went through normally and I was able to use that deposit but my credit card never charged me for it. By the way these charges I’m referring to are over 1 month old.
