If I don’t activate my credit card that I applied for, will it automatically be closed?

You are assuming wrong. It is an open account but considered inactive.

Whether you decide to use it or not, the whole process of applying and getting the account will be part of your credit history for few years. This may not be bothersome if you already have good credit history. For people with borderline credit history applying too many credit card accounts even if they choose not to use them, can create negative effects…

No, it will remain open (whether or not the card itself is activated) until you take positive action to close the account. Card activation is a security procedure.

I think it will close within a month but you should call them up and tell them you wanna close the account.

Yes, you’re 100% correct…Just because you said over the phone, I’ll take it…as long as you don’t activate it…then it’s still in the credit card companies hands…!
