He has about $430K in medical bills (no other debts) from recent cancer treatment while uninsured. My credit score is about 700 and I’m concerned that we’ll have a hard time securing credit after we’re married (we would like to buy a house).

Are there any things I can do to mitigate damage to my credit score? Do they always have to look at both partner’s credit when evaluating loan applications? I may be able to qualify for a mortgage with just my income (~$90K). Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I appiled for a credit card and was approved for a secured one with first preimer bank. The charge you even when you arent making and charges, they even charge if you are approved for a credit limit increase. Each time I apply for a line of credit with a nonsecured credit company I get rejected, but I get applications in the mail everyday. People have been telling me to finance a car to get my credit on track faster, but I am not ready for that responsibilty and besides I already have a car thats paid for. Will I ever be able to get approved for a decent credit card or moreless a mortage.

In other words, sometimes I want to pay my credit card balance with checking account 1, and other times with checking account 2. Every time I want to change which account to use, I have to re-enter the routing number and account number. I want to be able to store this info for more than one checking account so it is easier to pay off the balance with either account.

After the money was stolen, my bank was forced to shut down my account and report me to ChexSystems. I would love to get a secured credit card and begin repairing my credit, but all of the secured credit card applications that I have come across are affiliated with banks that use ChexSystems. I understand that secured credit cards are issued after a person has deposited money into a savings account with the issuing bank. But, what if my ChexSystems record is bad? If I try to apply for a secured credit card that is issued by a bank that uses ChexSystems, would I be denied? If so, where else would I be able to get a secured credit card?
